11/19/2019Beginning Wednesday, November 20 at 7 p.m., the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will have overnight patching work performed on the northbound and southbound lanes of MD 32 near Fox Chase Road as part of the phase II widening project in Howard County. The overnight work is scheduled to end at 5 a.m.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc., will have additional overnight work on Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. to place a temporary concrete barrier on the right shoulder of southbound MD 32, just south of the MDOT SHA Dayton Shop.

10/25/2019This project is 21% complete and expected to finish in summer 2022.

The structural steel deck pans and studs were recently installed on the westbound side of the new Triadelphia Road bridge. The contractor is now preparing for the concrete deck placement.

All erosion and sediment controls are in place with pipe work 90% complete on access road #4. Crews are now working to relocate residential fencing and excavate subgrade in that area.

A traffic shift was recently completed near structure 6 (S-6) which is located over the Middle Patuxent River near Fox Chase Road. The contractor has started clearing and excavation for work on S-6.

MDOT SHA worked with Howard County to develop a new detour route specifically for trucks that does not include Rosemary Lane. Trucks will be instructed to utilize southbound MD 32 to MD 108, MD 108 to Sheppard Lane, Sheppard Lane to Folly Quarter Road and onto Triadelphia Road. Signs are currently being fabricated and should be in place by early November.

9/26/2019This project is 17% complete and expected to finish in summer 2022.

The contractor recently poured concrete for abutment A and B on the westbound lane of the new Triadelphia Road bridge. They also installed sediment trap and drainage structures. The clearing and erosion and sediment controls for access road #4 is finished and crews are now relocating residential fences for access road #4.

Current work includes preparation to erect structural steel for abutment A and B, and placing a temporary road for run around.

9/6/2019MDOT SHA is currently working on phase I of the Triadelphia Road bridge replacement and the construction on the westbound span is on schedule. We plan to erect the steel bridge girders during the first week of October. Subsequently, the contractor will place concrete for the bridge deck, parapet walls and sidewalk.

Trucks will be instructed to utilize southbound MD 32 to MD 108, MD 108 to Sheppard Lane, Sheppard Lane to Folly Quarter and on to Triadelphia Road. Signs are currently being fabricated and should be in place by late October.

8/26/2019This project is 15% complete and expected to finish in summer 2022.

The Triadelphia Road bridge replacement is ongoing with abutment A pile driving complete and new footers poured with concrete. Abutment B's erosion and sediment controls are in place and excavation has started.

The Design-Build team continues work in the design phase.

7/18/2019This project is 12% complete and expected to finish summer 2022.

The partial closure and detour of the Triadelphia Road bridge began on June 24. The westbound lane of the bridge was demolished that week. The contractor is now working on the new bridge pilings on the westbound side.

6/21/2019Beginning Monday, June 24, the MDOT SHA will close one lane of the Triadelphia Road bridge to facilitate work on the bridge replacement as part of Phase II of the MD 32 widening project from Linden Church Road to I-70. Westbound traffic will be maintained while eastbound traffic will be detoured.

The MDOT SHA expects the closure and detour to be in effect through summer 2020, ending prior to the start of the Howard County Public Schools 2020-2021 school year.

6/17/2019The erosion and sediment plans are complete as well as the design phase I of the MOT (maintenance of traffic). Temporary signs have been installed with covers in preparation of the Tridelphia Road bridge detour and equipment has been moved to that location.

The detour for eastbound traffic on the Tridelphia Road bridge to Rosemary Avenue is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 24.

5/20/2019The contractor continues to work on the design phase of this project. Erosion and sediment control as well as maintenance of traffic plans for Triadelphia Road have been approved. A public meeting on the project was attended by more than 200 people on Wednesday, May 15.

Contractor expects to begin work in early June.

4/25/2019The contractors continue to work in the design phase of the project. Current on-site work includes surveying, soil borings and utility test pits with approved lane closures. Construction is scheduled to begin summer 2019 with a completion date of summer 2022.

3/20/2019The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has selected the Design-Build Team of Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. and Whitman, Requardt and Associates for the design-build contract to continue the widening of MD 32 from a two-lane road to a four-lane divided highway between Linden Church Road to MD 144. Preconstruction work activities have been initiated and include field surveys, subsurface investigation and locating underground utilities. This work is necessary for the engineering design of the future road widening activity. Periodic lane/shoulder closures may be in place for this work activity. No major impacts to the traveling public are anticipated.

Additionally, utility work is being performed by utility owners along MD 32 north of Linden Church Road to the Triadelphia Road overpass. There are no lane closures for this work activity.
