ADDENDUM NO. 1

CONTRACT NO.: AA1075229R
DESCRIPTION: Replacement of Vehicle Lifts at the Administration's Hanover
Auto Shop in Anne Arundel County

TO ALL PURCHASERS OF CONTRACT DOCUMENTS:

The Bid Opening date for this project is still scheduled for July 30,
2015

The following questions were received at the Pre-bid meeting held on June
30, 2015. Responses are provided for clarification to all bidders in
bold after the question and shall be taken into consideration in the
development of the Contractors Bid package:

Q1: Why was the job not awarded the first time it was bid?
A: There was only one bid and it was a lot higher than the Engineer’s
estimate.

Q2: Was the Engineer’s estimate changed?
A: SHA cannot comment on this.

Q3: Will other lifts besides Mohawk be acceptable?
A: Mohawk is the basis of design. Successful bidder is allowed to
submit a proposed equal for review and can provide that equivalent if
approved.

Q4: Has any construction work been done in the Shop since the issuance
of the IFB?
A: No.

Q5: Regarding the abandoned, existing lift in Vehicle Bay 105 – Are the
posts still in the ground? Is the in-ground tank full of fluid?
A: The posts (lift pistons) are still in the ground and have been capped
with welded steel plates at ground level. The in-ground tank was capped
and abandoned with fluid in it. There is reason to believe the tank is
leaking, which is why there are Unit Cost Items in the IFB that deal with
contaminated soil.
