12/6/2017Storm drain pipes, inlets and manholes work are on the list of items to be completed on this project.

Traffic signalization infrastructure work, utility relocation and curb and gutter work continue this fall and winter.

The project is now 72 percent complete and should be finished by late spring 2018.

10/23/2017The project is nearing the 75 percent completion mark.

The updates estimated completion date for the project is midsummer 2018. Revisions to the project, including utility relocations, have pushed back a previous estimated completion date of this fall.

Crews continue water infrastructure work at this time.

Remaining work on the project includes resurfacing, curb and gutter and traffic signal work. Any work that cannot be completed this construction season will be complete next construction season beginning in spring.

8/9/2017Crews continue inlet, manhole and drainage work on both MD 337 and Suitland Road. The project is now 67 percent complete and should be substantially complete by the end of October.
 
4/26/2017Through late May, (weather permitting), the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will perform water infrastructure work on MD 337 (Allentown Road) from Forestville Road to Suitland Road. Work is permitted to be performed Sunday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. For questions about this MD 337 project, please contact Mr. Wesley Deel, SHA Project Engineer at 443-299-8311 or Mr. Bill Kucharek, SHA District 3 Area Engineer, at 301-513-7452.
 
3/6/2017Weather permitting, storm water management facility construction will continue this winter and should be complete by late spring. Electrical infrastructure work for lighting and traffic signals also continues this winter. Once all storm drain work is complete, concrete work including curb and gutter, sidewalk and sidewalk ramp and median work will proceed. Weather and progress permitting, final resurfacing for the project should begin by late summer. 12/15/2016Current activity on the project includes work on the retaining wall at the intersection of MD 337 and Suitland Road. The project now stands at 44 percent complete. For more information about this project, please contact SHA area engineer, Mr. Rick Vosburg at rvosburg@sha.state.md.us.
 
6/16/2016SHA engineering and utility staff are currently working with the telecommunications provider to relocate the remaining utilities as quickly as possible. New information will be provided prior to the temporary road closure in late July. 4/21/2016SHA is reviewing its projects to determine any potential impacts connected to an ongoing work stoppage by a large telecommunications provider as it relates to project utility relocations.
 
3/21/2016Having completed removal of a large telecommunications cable earlier this winter, crews will now turn their attention this spring to continuing electricity infrastructure relocations, concrete median and curb construction, storm water management facility and water pipe installation work.

To date, the project is now 34% complete.
 
11/23/2015Crews continue to use a single eastbound and westbound MD 337 lane closure to perform median and curb and gutter construction activity, weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

8/27/2015Crews continue roadway drainage improvement work behind concrete barrier ("jersey wall") along northbound MD 337 this summer. Crews are also expecting the delivery of pipes for upcoming work on the ramp to I-95/I-495 within the project ;limits. Neither the delivery of the pipes not the ramp work will require any lane closures. This work is expected to continue through late fall 2015. The project now stands and 21 percent complete. Weather permitting, the project should be complete by the end of 2016.
