11/7/2018PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project, located in Prince George’s County, is for the replacement of the existing dual bridge
on I-95/I-495(Capital Beltway) over MD 214 (Central Avenue), and the barrier of a box culvert
on I-95/I-495 over the Southwest branch of Western branch of Patuxent Creek. This project also
extends the westbound left turn lanes MD 214 (Central Avenue) to five (5) lanes under the bridge
and adds a shoulder on the eastbound lane between the MD 214 ramps.
The work will consist of the following:

(a) Removal and replacement of dual Bridge Nos.1615305 and 1615306 on I-95/I-495
(Capital Beltway) over MD 214 (Central Avenue)

(b) Removal and replacement of traffic barrier for dual Concrete Box Culvert Nos.
1615605 and 1615606 carrying Southwest Branch of Western Branch Patuxent
River

(c) Widening of the westbound traffic lanes on MD 214 from four (4) to five (5) at the
bridge and adding a shoulder to the eastbound traffic lane

(d) Roadway reconstruction on the approaches of the bridge

(e) Installation of 54-inch water main with 78-inch steel casing

(f) Removal of existing traffic barrier W-beam

(g) Installation of traffic barrier W-beam

(h) Installation of concrete median traffic barrier

(i) Installation of curb and gutter(j) Milling and resurfacing of existing pavement(k) Installation of permanent pavement markings, signing, lighting, ITS, and traffic signalmodifications(l) Installation of storm drain systems and storm water management facilities(m) Maintenance of traffic and erosion and sediment control as required to perform theproposed improvements
