5/2/2017The SHA is currently awaiting a final determination from Montgomery County Department of Transportation as to whether design activities should continue on this project, or if Montgomery County would rather SHA focus transportation funds to higher priority transportation needs within its jurisdiction.

11/21/2016SHA is currently awaiting a final determination from Montgomery County Department of Transportation as to whether design activities should continue on this project, or if Montgomery County would rather SHA focus transportation funds to higher priority transportation needs within its jurisdiction. A letter to this affect was sent to the County on November 3, 2016. SHA awaits a response from the County.

7/25/2016Montgomery County's Department of Transportation has reviewed the cost/benefit analysis comparing the 6-lane vs. 4-lane typical sections. While agreeing with SHA's recommendations, the County requested that SHA not preclude the 6-lane typical section width for future development. SHA will determine whether to continue with preliminary engineering for this project.

2/22/2016The cost/benefit analysis comparing the 6-lane vs. 4-lane typical sections has been submitted to Montgomery County for their consideration. SHA is awaiting further direction from County officials regarding how to proceed with this project.

12/22/2015The cost/benefit analysis comparing the 6-lane vs. 4-lane typical sections has been submitted to Montgomery County for their consideration. SHA is awaiting further direction from County officials regarding how to proceed with this project.

10/14/2015The cost/benefit analysis comparing the 6-lane vs. 4-lane typical sections has been submitted for review and approval. Once approval has been received, the results will be shared with Montgomery County for their consideration.

8/6/2015The cost/benefit analysis comparing the 6-lane vs. 4-lane typical sections is undergoing further refinement. Once completed, the results will be approved and shared with Montgomery County for their consideration.

6/2/2015The cost/benefit analysis comparing the 6-lane vs. 4-lane typical sections is undergoing further refinement. Once completed, the results will be approved and shared with Montgomery County for their consideration.

3/2/2015The cost/benefit analysis comparing the 6-lane vs. 4-lane typical sections is under adminstrative review. The results of the analysis will be shared with Montgomery County for their consideration.

12/30/2014The analysis to determine whether the currently proposed 6-lane typical section can be reduced to a 4-lane section is still underway. Hydraulic analysis is being performed to determine differences in hydrologic/hydraulic needs. The anticipated completion of this study is March 2015.

8/21/2014Updated traffic numbers resulted in a traffic analysis to determine if the current 6-lane typical section is still warranted.

The traffic analysis concluded that a 4-lane section with intersection geometric improvements and optimized signal timing could function and meet the needs of the area.

A cost/benefit analysis is currently underway to determine if these recommendations warrant implementation. The analysis is due to be completed in September 2014.
