11/8/2017The US Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has granted Location Approval of the MDOT SHA Preferred Alternative, Alternative 4 Modified - Interchange Roundabouts with Local and Relocated US 219. Upon receipt of Location Approval, the Preferred Alternative is referred to as the Selected Alternative, concluding the planning phase of the project. Background information on the study and a detailed description of the Selected Alternative improvements are provided in the US 219 Spring 2017 Newsletter. 11/8/2017The US Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has granted Location Approval of the MDOT SHA Preferred Alternative, Alternative 4 Modified - Interchange Roundabouts with Local and Relocated US 219. 4/18/2017The US 219 Improvement Project team presented three Build Alternatives at a Joint Public Hearing with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on February 6, 2017. Comments received from citizens, federal, state and local agencies through the comment period which ended February 16, 2017, are being reviewed by the Maryland Department of Transportation's State Highway Administration (SHA). Following this review, SHA will select a "Preferred Alternative" and inform the public of its decision in a newsletter or postcard which will be available on the http://us219northmd.com project website and mailed to people on the project mailing list. To be added to the project mailing list, please complete information on the Feedback tab on this website.

Upon completion of environmental studies SHA will seek National Environmental Policy Act clearance and approval of SHA's "Preferred Alternative" from the Federal Highway Administration. Approval is expected Summer 2017.
 
1/30/2017Due to forecasted weather conditions, the US 219 Improvement Project Joint Public Hearing being held by the Maryland Department of Transportations State highway Administration, the Federal Highway Administration and the US Army Corps of Engineers has been rescheduled for:
    February 6, 2017 - 6:00 Displays; 7:00 PM: Presentation and Testimony
    Grantsville Elementary School
    120 Grant Street
    Grantsville, MD 21536
All interested parties are invited to attend. Additional details regarding the meeting may be viewed at the Joint Public Hearing link.
