US 0219 NORTH CHESTNUT RIDGE ROAD I-68 TO THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE LINE

10/17/2017In July 2016, the Maryland Department of Transportation's State Highway Administration (MDOT/SHA), and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), completed the US 219 I-68, MD to Myersville PA Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study. During the study, the project team identified a stand-alone project in Garrett County, Maryland. The project, referred to as the US 219 Improvement Project: I-68 to Old Salisbury Road, extends 1.4 miles along US 219. For additional project details visit: http://www.us219northmd.com

The meeting, hosted in partnership with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDot) and the Federal Highway Adminstration (FHWA) provided the public an opportunity to provide feedback on the US 219 Planning and Environmental Linkages Study vision, goals and study alignments.

9/23/2014An Informational Workshop was conducted for the study: Tuesday, September 23, 2014 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM Grantsville Elementary School - Cafeteria 120 Grant Street, Grantsville MD 21536 Project Purpose and Need, Maps of the preliminary alternatives, traffic data, and preliminary impacts were displayed for public viewing and comment. The project team is currently reviewing comments received from the Workshop.
 
1/29/2014The US 219 Team is progressing towards holding an informational public meeting in Fall 2014. The US 219 team is currently coordinating project related activities with PennDOT.
 
10/29/2013The study has received funding to continue Planning efforts. SHA and PennDOT are developing a plan to move forward.
 
3/19/2013This joint study is currently on hold due to the withdrawal of funds by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for their portion of the project.
 
4/8/2009The project is currently on hold due to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation withdrawal of funds for their portion of the project.
 
7/28/2008Currently, the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Document) is being prepared and it is expected to be completed by Summer 2008. The document will be available for the public to review and to provide comments before the Location/Design Public Hearing, which is tentatively scheduled for Fall 2008. The purpose of the hearing is to present results of the detailed engineering and environmental analyses of the alternatives currently under consideration to the public and to receive their feedback.
 
11/9/2004An Informational Public Workshop was held in Grantsville, Maryland to present changes in Alternatives since the February 2003 Meeting.
