7/26/2017Project Development is continuing with design plans to address storm water management and sediment control during construction. These plans are currently being reviewed by the appropriate permitting agencies. In addition, soil borings are being completed in the field to aid in the final design of storm water management facilities and bridge foundations.

11/16/2016SHA is completing development of preliminary design plans relocating the new bridge to the downstream side of the existing structure. This design has been developed based on an assessment of impacts to utilities, right of way, and wetlands. Conceptual plans to address storm water management and sediment control during construction are currently being reviewed by the appropriate permitting agencies.

8/11/2016SHA has developed a preference for relocating the new bridge to the downstream side of the existing structure. This preference was developed based on an assessment of impacts to utilities, right of way and wetlands. We are developing conceptual plans to address storm water management and sediment control during construction.

1/21/2016We are evaluating alternative alignments (either side of the existing bridge) that will allow us to construct a new bridge across the Youghiogheny while maintaining traffic on the existing road and bridge. Once construction is complete, we anticipate removing the existing road and bridge. Our goal is to minimize impacts and tie into the current alignment as quickly as possible. Closing MD 39 and detouring traffic to other roads in the area was not a good solution for this crossing.
