4/30/2019Beginning May 3, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close and detour MD 77 (Foxville Road) between Pryor Road and Stottlemeyer Road (approximately five miles west of Thurmont) to replace 46 aging culverts. The entire $2.1 million project is expected to be complete summer 2020.

Motorists will be detoured using MD 77 to US 15 (Catoctin Mountain Highway) to MD 550 (Sabillasville Road) to Foxville Deerfield Road and back to MD 77. Local traffic and park visitors will be able to travel on westbound MD 77 to Catoctin Hollow Road.

After May 23, MD 77 will reopen to travel in both directions with flagging operations on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and possibly overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

4/17/2019This project is not yet under construction but is expected to start soon.

The contractor will install signs prior to the upcoming detour which is in effect from May 1 through May 23. After the detour end date, there will be flagging operations for traffic on MD 77 so the contractor can continue working on the project.

The anticipated completion date is summer 2020.
