8/23/2019Both abutments, wing walls and pier of the new bridge have been poured with concrete. Abutment B's first footer was poured last week with 81 yards of concrete. Abutment A's footers and wing walls are finished.

Upcoming work includes digging out the second footer for abutment B. It will then be poured along with the two wing walls. Crews will need to strip the forms off the wing walls of abutment A and then backfill.

The contractor expects to set the steel girders for the new bridge in October. This project is estimated to be complete in summer 2020.

The crane has been moved to the new bridge’s southside and will use a hammer to drive steel beams into the ground until it reaches solid rock.

MDOT SHA is also currently working with CSX on the demolition of the existing bridge’s pier footers by the railroad tracks.

The work zone will continue to have flagging operations on MD 355 so trucks hauling materials can safely enter and exit the work areas.
