MD 0180 JEFFERSON PIKE MD 383 (BROAD RUN ROAD) TO OLD HOLTER ROAD

7/12/2019Beginning Monday, July 15 at 8 a.m., the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close Holter Road at MD 180 (Jefferson Pike) to install a new pipe underground across Holter Road. This portion of the road will close from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 15 and again on Tuesday, July 16.

The MDTO SHA will use electronic message boards, signs and cones to alert motorists and guide them to the detour route on Old Holter Road. About 5,000 motorists travel through this section of MD 180 every day.

7/12/2019Beginning Monday, July 15 at 8 a.m., the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close Holter Road at MD 180 (Jefferson Pike) to install a new pipe underground across Holter Road. This portion of the road will close from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 15 and again on Tuesday, July 16.

The MDTO SHA will use electronic message boards, signs and cones to alert motorists and guide them to the detour route on Old Holter Road. About 5,000 motorists travel through this section of MD 180 every day.
 
6/25/2019The MDOT SHA's contractor continues to work on storm drain installation east of the Jefferson Apartment Complex as well as concrete work on MD 180 for sidewalks, driveways, curb and gutter.

The subcontractor, Valentine Electric, is working on signalization at the intersection of MD 180 and Holter Road/Lander Road including the installation of a signal cabinet and hand boxes.

Please note that flagging operations and lane closure hours have changed due to lower traffic volumes in the school as a result of school recess. Hours are now 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday between Old Middletown Road and Old Holter Road.
 
5/28/2019The contractor recently completed work on pipe crossings east of Old Middletown Road prior to MD 180 at Lander Road/Holter Road.

Concrete work has resumed on new sidewalks, driveways, curbs and gutters, and also to fix ADA issues. The contractor continues to work on storm drain installations east of Old Middletown Road as well as signalization work.
 
4/15/2019This project is 70% complete with an estimated final completion date of winter 2019.

In the past month, crews have been working on storm drain improvements. They completed two new pipe crossings east of Old Middletown Road on MD 180 and are currently working to finish a 592-foot run of pipe in the field at the Jefferson Ruritan Club, with 123 feet remaining. Also, a concrete subcontractor is on-site to make sidewalks and other areas compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The warmer weather will enable crews to place driveway aprons and ADA compliant sidewalks along with new curbs and gutters east of Old Middletown Road on MD 180. As crews complete this work, topsoil and sod will be put down to complete the concrete work.

Currently, there are no anticipated disruptions or detours outside of traffic maintenance through the work zone which may require temporary flagging operations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
 
1/22/2019Paving and final pavement markings complete from Broad Run Road through to just west of Old Middletown Rd. Concrete work at Post Office now complete. All concrete work will resume in the spring. Pipe installation at Ruritan to continue through winter, as well as stormdrain pipe installation.
 
10/25/2018Current work:
-wedging/leveling and placing base HMA and line striping
-We anticipate having surface paving complete from Old Broad Run Road to Old Middletown Road by late Fall 2018 weather/temperature permitting
-All landscaping (trees/sod) is complete from Old Broad Run Road through to Southview Court, with most other areas complete up through Old Middletown Road
-All sidewalk/median/curb & gutter, concrete driveway entrances and HMA driveway aprons have been completed from Broad Run Road though to Old Middletown Road
-All Stormwater pipes, trench drains, inlets and manholes have been installed from Old Broad Run Rd through to Old Middletown Rd and
-The pipe, end section and rip-rap ditch have been installed and sodded

Upcoming work:
-inlet and pipe placement on the east side of the Old Middletown Rd/MD 180 intersection.
 
6/19/2018This project is currently 34% complete and is set to be fully complete in late fall 2019.

Recently Completed Work/Current work items/areas:
-Curb & Gutter, Sidewalk, and driveway entrances continue being installed, sod placement on West end of project. Sidewalk installation at the area of the elementary school has started, as school in now out for summer recess.

Upcoming work items/areas over the next month:
-Continue installation of curb & gutter, sidewalk and driveway entrances, Install sod and landscape items from Broad Run Road to South View Court.
 
5/15/2018This project is currently 31% complete and is on track to be complete Fall 2019.

Recently completed work (since last newsletter):
Sanitary sewer line complete, Curb & Gutter, Sidewalk, and driveway entrances are being installed, as well as asphalt driveway aprons.

Current work items/areas/Upcoming work items/areas over the next month: Continue installation of curb & gutter, sidewalk and driveway entrances, as well as asphalt driveway aprons. Pave Jefferson Market entrances, as well as main line, from Broad Run Road to South View Court. Install sod and landscape items from Broad Run Road to South View Court.

 
2/14/2018The contractor has completed the vast majority of the tree removal and root pruning throughout the project. The sanitary sewer system continues to be installed, as well as RCP, inlets and manholes. Daily flagging operations continue as needed from 9 am until 3 pm, Monday through Friday.
 
11/28/2017-Crews have completed all pre-construction home surveys.
-The project baseline is being marked and signs are being placed within the project limits.
-Temporary orange construction fence has been placed to protect landscaping items.
-Crews will begin to saw cut the sanitary sewer lines on the West end of town and will work towards Southview.

 
9/22/2017The project has been awarded to L.W. Wolfe Enterprises, Inc.
