MD 0085 BUCKEYSTOWN PIKE IHB - S OF DISTRICT 7 OFFICE ENTRANCE TO N OF SPECTRUM DRIVE (PHASE 1) AT I-270

4/11/2019This project is currently 36% complete and is scheduled for full completion by spring 2022.

Recently, crews finished pouring the concrete of the new southbound I-270 bridge deck surface. They also installed new storm drains, a gas line on northbound MD 85 and created foundations for overhead signs on southbound I-270. The new I-270 bridge also had its side wall extended past the bridge and onto a portion of the road for the safety of motorists.

Currently, crews are installing new street lights, curbs and gutters on southbound I-270. They will also be repairing and installing a new water line on northbound MD 85 by Shockley Drive.

***Please be advised that starting on Monday, April 22 at 10 p.m., MDOT SHA will close the southbound I-270 ramp for Exit 31A to northbound MD 85 for approximately four weeks. The temporary closure of Exit 31A is needed to make ramp improvements for the next phase of this reconstruction project. Signs, cones, barrels and electronic message boards will be used to alert motorists and guide them to the detour route.

3/8/2019This project is currently 32% complete and is scheduled to be fully complete by Fall 2021.

New deck on southbound I-270 bridge over MD 85 completed

Upcoming work items/areas over the next month:

bridge parapet walls, new roadway paving, new signage and new lighting
 
12/10/2018Current work items/areas:

Placement of structural steel for new I-270 bridge, waterline relocation throughout the Project along MD 85 northbound and southbound, installation of temporary lighting throughout the Project, installation of new permanent signage on I-270, placement of topsoil on slopes on I-270, excavation for Sediment Trap 7.

Upcoming work items/areas over the next month:

Installation of stay-in-place forms and forming/placing rebar for Stage 1 deck pour, continuation of waterline relocation work
 
1/1/2016Engineering and Right-of-Way underway. Construction to begin during fiscal year 2018. Frederick County is funding $1.5 million for partial Engineering.
 
1/1/2001Crews have been installing temporary construction entrances, placing signs, drainage pipe, and inlets.
