NOTE: Since school is back in session, we will be resuming original working schedule of 9:00am to 3:00pm for flagging operations. Shoulder work that does not disrupt the flow of traffic can begin at 7:00am.
 
8/16/2018Projected Activities for Weeks August 16 to August 31
(Some activities are weather sensitive and may be pushed back in the schedule)
• Curb & Gutter And/Or Sidewalk Installation along WB & EB US40Alt From Lombardi Street to Broad Street. Once sidewalk is complete on south side of US40Alt, between Broad Street and Lombardi, we will begin demolition of the Pedestrian Bridge on the north side.
• Grading and Permanent Stabilization from east end of project to Broad Street
• Temporary Water Line and House Connections between Elm Street and Jefferson Street
• Storm Drain pipe crossings of US40Alt on the 18th with closure between Cone Branch Road and Coblenz Road. (The closure is schedule between 7:00am and 5:00pm, but end time may vary. )
• Storm Drain between Creamery Row and Summers Drive.
• Flagging operations will be required in several areas to complete the above listed work
• !!August 24th starting at 7:00pm, and continuing through the night into Saturday morning, the 25th: Removal of Underground Storage Tanks in front of 7 W. Main Street. This will involve flagging of the intersection of US40Alt & Church Street (MD17). It is a long and slow process, and unable to complete during the daytime hours of (9:00am to 3:00pm).
Work is expected to be completed by Noon on the 25th. If unforeseen problem occur, working hours will not go beyond 2 or 3pm, and the roadway will have steel plates installed, and work completed on Monday, the 27th. This is to insure the events happening on the evening of the 25th are not disrupted by construction. !!
NOTE: Since school is no longer in session, MD SHA is allowing the contractor to have flagging operations extended to begin at 8:00am, and end at 4:00pm. However, between 8am & 9am and 3pm & 4pm, there can be no flagging of a signalized intersections, flagging operations must be at least 500 feet from a signalized intersection, there may be no more than 2 flagging operations no longer than 400’ in length, and flagging operations must be 1000’ apart. SHA reserves the right to withdraw the allowance of longer flagging operations, if they deem necessary.
 
8/2/2018Projected Activities for Weeks August 1 to August 18

• Curb & Gutter And Sidewalk Installation along WB & EB US40Alt From Coblenz Road to Broad Street
• Grading and Permanent Stabilization from east end of project to Broad Street
• Water Line House Connections between Summers Drive and Elm Street
• Storm Drain pipe crossings of US40Alt on August 11, with US40Alt closure and detour between Schoolhouse Drive and Cone Branch Road.
And on the 18th with closure between Cone Branch Road and Coblenz Road. (The closure is schedule between 7:00am and 5:00pm, but end time may vary. )
• Flagging operations will be required in several areas to complete the above listed work
NOTE: Since school is no longer in session, MD SHA is allowing the contractor to have flagging operations extended to begin at 8:00am, and end at 4:00pm. • Flagging operations will be required in several areas to complete the above listed work
NOTE: Since school is no longer in session, MDOT SHA is allowing the contractor to have flagging operations extended to begin at 8:00am, and end at 4:00pm. (New signalization controlled by cameras scheduled to be operational on 6/21/18)
Storm Drain From Martha Mason Street To Schoolhouse Drive
•Flagging operations will be required in several areas to complete the above listed work
•Seismic Surveys along Main Street from Creamery Row to Church Street

•New Water Main installation between Creamery Row and Summers Drive
•Grading, placing topsoil & sod, from Creamery Row to west end of project limits
•Flagging operations will be required in several areas to complete the above listed work
 
4/10/2018in the past 2.5 weeks, when very little could be done due to rain and snow
•Storm water management pipe installation in 200 and 300 block of East Main Street
•Finishing new curb & gutter and sidewalk along Main Street between Coblentz and Cone Branch Rd on westbound side. And finishing new curb & gutter on eastbound side.
•Placing soil to match property grades in the 700 block of East Main Street
•Continue with temporary water house connections between Creamery Row and Summers Drive. And begin new water line in this location as well
•Flagging operations will be required in several areas to complete the above listed work
•April 6th; Investigation of Underground Storage Tanks on WB Main Street between MD17 and Garage Street
 
1/16/2018Projected Activities for Weeks January 12 to January 26, 2018

• Storm water management pipe installation in 500, 600 and 700 block of East Main Street
• Removing curb and gutter along eastbound Alt 40 between Broad St and Pine Ave
• Placing new curb and gutter along eastbound Alt 40 between Broad St and Pine Ave
• Placing soil to construct sidewalks in the 700 block of East Main Street
• Constructing sidewalks in the 700 Block of East Main Street
• Final grading and topsoil placement along sidewalk in the 700 Block of East Main Street
• Continued work on Storm Water Management Pond in West end of town

•Continued work on curb and gutter placement in the 700 Block of East Main Street
•Constructing Driveway Aprons in the 700 Block of East Main Street

•May begin excavating for curb and gutter in the 600 Block of East Main Street

Curb and gutter placement continues
Paving has been completed from Ivy Hill to Creamery Row

 
9/15/2017Crews continue to place the new water main throughout town.
Sidewalk, curb and gutter work is also being done on the west side of town.
 
7/13/2017Crews are currently working on curb and gutter placement, sidewalk construction, and roadway widening on the west end of the project limits. Crews are also working on storm water management ponds.
 
5/22/2017Crews are installing new waterlines throughout the project limits. Work began at Middletown Parkway and is moving west.
 
1/4/2017Over the winter, crews will continue to complete utility work within the project limits. The contractor will also begin work on the storm water management pond on the west side of the town. As the weather becomes warmer, water main work will begin. Water main work will begin at Middletown Parkway and move west.
 
1/1/2016Engineering and Right-of-Way are underway. Construction to begin during current fiscal year.
