3/19/2013I-270/US 15 highway improvements are currently on hold waiting for additional funds to complete the planning phase of the study.

5/17/2012On May 11, Governor Martin O┬┐Malley announced that the locally preferred alternative (LPA) for the Corridor Cities Transitway (CCT) will be Maryland┬┐s first Bus Rapid Transit system operating along a 15-mile north-south corridor from the Shady Grove Metrorail station to the COMSAT facility near Clarksburg in Montgomery County. The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will now submit the project to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) under its New Starts Program. For additional information, please visit www.cct.com.

2/3/2012The Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) for the transit improvements, the Corridor Cities Transitway (CCT), is expected to be selected this Spring. Additional information on the CCT project can be found on MTA's website, www.mta.maryland.gov/cct.

I-270/US 15 highway improvements are currently on hold waiting for additional funds to complete the planning phase of the study. Addressing the Federal Highway Administration's comments, recently the Team updated the existing traffic volumes to reflect Year 2010 on the I-270/ US 15 corridor and developed 2030 forecasts for all the alternatives, so that all alternatives would have the same design year (2030).

4/4/2011MTA has recently developed a new transit-only website (www.mta.maryland.gov/cct) where residents can learn more about the CCT as it proceeds through the Federal approval process.

A Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA) for the transit alternative alignments is being prepared and a public hearing was held on December 15, 2010 by MTA.

8/13/2010The CCT team completed the feasibility study of the proposed alternative alignments through Crown Farm, Shady Grove Life Sciences Center, and the Kentlands. The report is available on the project website at www.i270multimodalstudy.com under "News and Updates."

The CCT team is preparing a Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS) to assess the impacts of the alternative alignments. It is anticipated that the MTA will hold a public hearing to gather feedback on the SDEIS and the proposed alternative alignments later this year.

4/5/2010The team continues to address the comments received at and following the public hearings.

The CCT team completed the feasibility study of the proposed alternative alignments through Crown Farm, Shady Grove Life Sciences Center, and the Kentlands. The report is available on the project website at www.i270multimodalstudy.com.

The CCT team also anticipates preparing a supplemental environmental document to assess the impacts of the alternative alignments.

1/21/2010The team continues to address the comments received at and following the public hearings and has received the preferred alternative recommendations from the local jurisdictions and agencies.

MTA completed the feasibility study of the alternative alignments proposed at Crown Farm, Shady Grove Life Sciences Center, and the Kentlands. The report is available on the project website at www.i270multimodalstudy.com.

10/29/2009The team is finalizing addressing the comments received at and following the hearings held on June 16th and 18th in Montgomery County and Frederick County, respectively.

8/17/2009The Project Team held public hearings on June 16 (Montgomery County) and June 18 (Frederick County) to gather feedback about the Alternatives Analysis / Environmental Assessment document and the project in general. Displays from the meeting are available on the project website, located at www.i270multimodalstudy.com. The team is compiling the comments received from the public as well as local, state, and federal agencies to develop the recommendation for a preferred alternative. It is anticipated that the preferred alternative will be selected in Fall 2009.

5/14/2009The Alternatives Analysis/Environmental Assessment (AA/EA) document will be available for public review on May 29, 2009. Public hearings will be held to receive input on the study and the AA/EA document on June 16, 2009 at Gaithersburg Middle School in Montgomery County and on June 18, 2009 at Monocacy Middle School in the City of Frederick. Both meetings will begin at 5:00 p.m. with an "open house" format where attendees can view project maps and displays and ask questions to the SHA and MTA staff. The public can comment on the study by providing oral testimony, private testimony to a court reporter, or by providing written comments. The public testimony will begin at 7:00 p.m. at both meetings. Written comments to be included in the public record will be received through July 31, 2009.

6/5/2008The Project Team is working towards completing the Environmental Assessment (EA)/ Alternatives Analysis (AA) document. The Project Team has completed a draft of the document and is preparing to submit the document to the Federal Highway and Federal Transit Administrations for review and approval.
