County:Frederick Project Number:FR133_51
MD 0028 CLAY STREET IHB - BRIDGE 1002900 OVER MONOCACY RIVER
Status
10/26/2018This project is currently 8% complete and is scheduled to be fully complete by winter 2019.

Recently completed:

The contractor has completed clearing all the trees and installing erosion and sediment controls necessary to complete the work. A temporary signal has been placed at opposite ends of the bridge and we are waiting on power to begin operation. The signal will be used to alternate traffic across a single lane of the bridge while we work on the closed lane.

Current work items/areas:

The contractor is currently working underneath the bridge above the Monocacy on placing a work platform in order to access the bridge for repairs.

Upcoming work areas/items over the next month:

After the work platform is completed, Corman Kokosing will begin steel repair work underneath. The repairs being done under the bridge in this phase of work can be done utilizing lane closures and temporary detours without any concern to the traffic traveling above us.

Please explain any upcoming work that may be more disruptive than usual (detours, shifts, night work):

Weekend detours are likely right now starting Friday at 10pm and going until Monday at 5am. Check the message boards for more details. Daily flagging operations from 9am until 3pm are also likely. Soon the temporary traffic signal will be in operation with barrier wall across the bridge to limit traffic to alternating one way.
