11/16/2017Competitive electronic bids were opened on 11/16/2017. The apparent low bidder is McLean Contracting Company of Glen Burnie, Maryland.
10/30/2017The project was advertised on October 3, 2017 for competitive bids. Bids are expected on November 9, 2017.
7/25/2017Preliminary engineering is ongoing and approaching 95% design completion. The project is on schedule to be advertised for competitive bids in August.
4/4/2017SHA will delete the recreational access to waterway from the Cobb Island bridge replacement project based on a request received from Charles County Government.
1/4/2017Engineering is underway. SHA is also working on right of way and easement needs for this project.
9/13/2016SHA met with County Commissioner, Ken Robinson, and representatives from Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to discuss recreational access to the water as a part of this project. SHA was requested to provide a boardwalk and kayak launch pier on the island end of the bridge.
1/29/2016County Commissioner, Ken Robinson, hosted two sessions at the Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department (January 6th and 9th ) to provide the public with an opportunity to express their preference for one of the alternative lane configurations proposed by State Highway. The voters overwhelmingly supported 28 feet of clear roadway with a raised sidewalk on one side of the bridge. See Media tab for a rendering of the preferred alternative, which is being used for design.
11/23/2015SHA presented the project to the public during an open meeting at the Fire Hall on November 5, 2015.
7/28/2015Engineering underway. Construction to begin during budget fiscal year.
