2/21/2017The new MD 222 bridge over Rock Run opened to traffic in early February. Seasonal planting and other minor work will be completed by early spring.

12/20/2016Precast deck panels have been installed. Once the new sidewalk is constructed the temporary pedestrian bridge can be removed and the new concrete ride surface will be poured and heated as necessary to ensure proper curing. The bridge will open to vehicle traffic in January.

10/19/2016Following the temporary closure of Granite Avenue, relocation of water lines is now underway. This work is being managed by the local water utility (Artesian) and must be done in order for the new bridge substructure to be completed. The new bridge should be completed by mid-November, weather permitting.

8/19/2016Following a slight delay, utilities were relocated and bridge demolition began in mid-July. This project will continue on a 10-week schedule. A temporary pedestrian bridge has been installed to facilitate access during construction. Granite Ave. will be temporarily closed at MD 222 to accommodate water/sewer work and enhance safety in the bridge work area.
