Status
1/28/2019CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - WINTER 2019

The US 1 (Washington Blvd.) bridge over CSX will remain open to traffic during construction work. However, travelers can expect temporary lane closures and traffic shifts in both directions of US 1. Please plan ahead for extra travel time and look ahead for changing traffic patterns and construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.

US 1 access to and from Clark Boulevard will be restricted or detoured at various times during bridge construction work. Dynamic message signs will alert travelers and residents prior to major traffic pattern changes.

Crews will work with temporary lane closures Sunday night through Friday morning between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day, as well as Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. There will be occasional late-night detours of US 1 for steel beam removal and replacement work. Crews may also work along the side of the roadway on the shoulders at other times of the day.

MDOT SHA’s contractor, Lane Construction Company of Glen Burnie, will guide motorists through the work zone using dynamic message signs, traffic barrels and a temporary concrete barrier.
