8/14/2013The Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) was signed by the Federal Highway Administration on March 3, 2011. We are working on the Design Approval Package and seeking a signature on the Record of Decision (ROD). Currently, SHA and FHWA are working together to ensure that the project complies with the FHWA memorandum "Transportation Planning Requirements and Their Relationship to NEPA Process Completion" reissued on February 9, 2011.

8/14/2013The Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) was signed by the Federal Highway Administration on March 3, 2011. We are working on the Design Approval Package and seeking a signature on the Record of Decision (ROD). 9/1/2010The MD 3 Project Planning Study is currently on hold until further notice. We are currently waiting for the Prince George's County's portion of the project to be added back into the Constrained Long Range Plan (CLRP).

The Record of Decision is expected to be approved by Federal Highway Administration this Fall/Winter 2010.

10/6/2009The environmental regulatory agencies have agreed to remove the conceptual mitigation from this project; therefore, they will only be concurring on the SHA Selected Alternate. Concurrence is due the end of this month.
 
8/4/2009The Selected Alternate/Conceptual Mitigation (SACM) package is awaiting concurrence from the environmental regulatory agencies.
 
3/3/2009The Selected Alternate/Conceptual Mitigation (SACM)package has been finalized and sent to the Federal regulatory agencies for their final review and concurrence. Once we receive concurrence, the study team will begin to prepare the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS).
 
11/12/2008The team is still addressing comments received from the environmental agencies regarding wetland and waters of the US impacts and mitigation sites.
