Abutement/wall complete facing South and from the median of US 15 show the completed construction of the Phase #1 bridge substructure at the North Abutment (Abutment B) which is being prepared for backfill. The South Abutment can also be seen from this view.
South Abutment Facing North / Northeast, the photos below show the near completion of the Phase #1 construction of the bridge’s South and North Abutment Substructures (Abutment A and B respectively). This is the foundation of the Phase #1 construction of the bridge. Seen at the bottom of the screen, backfilling has begun behind the South Abutment (A) in preparation for the setting of structural steel for Phase #1 of the bridge across MD 26.

New Steel Placed Facing North / Northeast, the photos below show the completion of the Phase #1 construction of the bridge’s South Abutment Substructure (Abutment A) with backfill for this structure near completion. You can see the completion of the placement of Phase 1 bridge girders (structural steel) and the preparation for the construction of the superstructure of the bridge which involves the placing of forms for the Phase 1 bridge deck to be poured.

bridge abutment The first photo, which was taken facing South/Southeast from the median of US 15, shows the completed placement of the aggregate base course for the Phase #1 roadway which is ready for placement of Hot Mix Asphalt (blacktop) as well as the completed backfilling for Phase #1 bridge on both the North (Abutment B) and South (Abutment A) abutments of the US 15 Northbound Bridge.
