Project Name:
MD 364, Dividing Creek Road

Location of Project:
BRIDGE 1901000 OVER DIVIDING CREEK

Description:
Study to replace Bridge 1901000 over Dividing Creek.

Scope:
The existing structure, consisting of three simple spans, on MD 364 over Dividing Creek in Somerset County is scheduled to be replaced. The project will replace the existing bridge with a wider bridge to provide a safer traveled area.

The main objectives of this project are to replace structurally deficient bridge and to provide shoulders for walkers and bicyclists. The proposed bridge will be a 55-foot long single-span bridge and will provide for two 13-foot lanes and two 3-foot shoulders. This project is part of SHA’s bridge preservation and replacement program.

The proposed method for maintaining traffic involves closing the bridge and detouring traffic. Based on past experience, it is anticipated the roadway will reopen to traffic after 12 weeks of construction over the summer. SHA will make every effort to complete this project as quickly as possible while minimizing impacts to local residents and motorists. Construction is scheduled to begin in Summer 2018 after the last day of school. It is anticipated that construction will be completed by early Fall 2018, weather permitting.
