MD 0005 POINT LOOKOUT ROAD THE CAUSEWAY TO SOUTH OF CAMP BROWN ROAD
Project Name:
MD 5, Point Lookout Road

Location of Project:
THE CAUSEWAY TO SOUTH OF CAMP BROWN ROAD

Description:
Upgrade and widen MD 5 from south of Camp Brown Road to the Lake Conoy causeway (2.2 miles). This project will accommodate bicycles and pedestrians as appropriate.

Scope:
MD 5 is the only means of access from Lexington Park & Leonardtown to the residential communities in the area, along with Point Lookout State Park. Due to the narrow roadway and minimal shoulders which characterize this portion of MD 5, maintenance vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles, and disabled vehicles sometimes restrict traffic flow.

MD 5 will be reconstructed to a two-lane roadway with one 11-foot lane in each direction and one 8-foot shoulder on either side. The intersection of MD 5 and Scotland Beach Road will be channelized to provide an exclusive right turn to southbound MD 5.

South of Scotland Beach Road, a two-lane roadway with one 15 foot lane in each direction will also be evaluated.
