Description:

Construct a new interchange at Watkins Mill Road Extended. Bicycle and pedestrian improvements will be included as appropriate.

Scope:

This project proposes a full, access-controlled, interchange at the intersection of I-270 and Watkins Mill Road, in Montgomery County. The proposed limits of work extend along I-270 from the Great Seneca Creek crossing, to the MD 124 interchange. The limits of work along Watkins Mill Road extend eastward and westward to the ramp terminals.

What is under study:

This interchange has been identified by Montgomery County as the #1 transportation priority for the county.

The proposed stormwater management (SWM) design will follow new Maryland Department of the Enrivonment (MDE) regulations. Several concepts are currently being investigated to determine the footprint and locations of proposed SWM facilities.
