Description:

MT PHILLIP ROAD TO US 40 - (PHASE IV)

Scope:

The scope of this project includes addressing traffic capacity needs along I-70 between US40 Alternate and I-270.

Planning study for the project was completed in 1984 as a part of the I-70 Corridor Planning. The I-70 Corridor improvement project was further broken into several phases of design and construction. The current project is the last phase of the I-70 corridor improvement.

What is under study:

The original planning alternatives were developed utilizing 2010 traffic forecasts. Traffic projections were revised to reflect the needs for 2030. A recent study has determined that the 2030 traffic volumes are too large for the original scope that was proposed in 1984. The study has identified numerous improvements that would need to be required for the road and the adjacent ramps to function adequately. The substantial increase in scope will warrant re-evaluation of the impacts and the costs. In addition, it may require the project to be split in to multiple stages of design. Additional funding is needed to advance this project.
