MD 2/4, Solomons Island Road

NORTH OF STOAKLEY ROAD TO SOUTH OF MD 765

Description:
Upgrade MD 2/4, from south of MD 765 to north of Stoakley Road, excluding the MD 231 intersection, to a 6 lane divided highway with auxiliary lanes (3.29 miles). Sidewalks will be included where appropriate. Wide curb lanes will accommodate bicycles.
 
Scope:
This project is the planned improvements along MD 2/4 through Prince Frederick. It consists of widening MD 2/4 to provide a third through lane and an auxilary lane in each direction of MD 2/4. This project is broken into six phases:

o Phase 1 - MD 2/4 and MD 231 Intersection improvements, including the widening of MD 2/4 from south of Commerce Lane to south of Old Field Lane. This phase was open to traffic in Summer of 2009

o Phase 2: Extends from Fox Run Boulevard to south of Commerce Lane. This segment is immediately north of Phase 1.

o Phase 3A: Widen MD 2/4 from north of Stoakley Road to north of Harrow Lane (Exxon). This is the northernmost segment.

o Phase 3B: Widen MD 2/4 in each direction between north of Harrow Lane to Fox Run Boulevard.

o Phase 4: Widen MD 2/4 from south of Old Field Lane to south of MD 765A (Main Street). This is south of the Phase 1.

o Phase 5: Northern and Southern interchanges at tie-ins with Prince Frederick Boulevard
