IS 0070 BALTIMORE NATIONAL PIKE AT MEADOW ROAD - IJAMSVILLE ROAD INTERCHANGE STUDY

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

What is the purpose of this study?

A:

The primary purpose of this project is to improve safety and traffic operations in the project area due to the lack of access to the west via I-70 from Meadow Road and Ijamsville Road, while supporting existing and planned development.

Q:

What is the need for this study?

A:

The existing partial interchange has created circuitous travel patterns for local vehicles heading to and from the west on I-70 from the project area. Current and planned residential growth and development, as identified in the Frederick Comprehensive Plan and the New Market Region Plan, forecast increases in future traffic volumes on MD 144, I-70, Meadow and Ijamsville Roads. Increased traffic on these roadways will make the extra travel time longer and dangerous.

Q:

What are the limits of this study?

A:

The limits for this study include the Meadow Road/Ijamsville Road Interchange.
