County:Baltimore Project Number:BA609_21
US 0040 BALTIMORE NATIONAL PIKE BRIDGE 03034 AND BRIDGE 03035 OVER LITTLE GUNPOWDER FALLS AND GUNPOWDER FALLS

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

Will pedestrian access under the bridges be maintained after construction has been completed at these locations?

A:

Pedestrian access under the bridges at Gunpowder Falls and Little Gunpowder Falls will not be restricted after construction has been completed at these locations. Large stones will be placed at the face of the bridge abutments (end supports) to protect these supports from washing out. These stone will also allow hikers to continue crossing under the bridges to get from one side of US 40 to the other. Additional sediment will naturally rebuild around these stones as storms occur to return the ground surface to its current contours.
